In fact, for the first time, there are no wars in Tollywood among the producers and the distributors, accusing each other that one of them is favouring a Tamil film over a Telugu movie. For many times, we have seen how these producers clash Telugu local-made films with dubbed films from Kollywood.

This time, for Sankranthi 2026, the likes of Prabhas Raja Saab, Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, Raviteja’s Bhartha Mahaseyulaku Wignyapthi, Naveen’s Anaganaga Oka Raju and Sharwa’s Nari Nari Naduma Murari locked the release dates. With every top production with a distribution arm locking one film or the other, Tamil films felt the scarcity of theatres.

Perhaps, Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi and Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyaar were released in Tamil on Sankranthi eve; however, those films postponed their Telugu versions due to a lack of theatres. Currently, when Telugu films like MSG are struggling to expand, because most theatres are locked by Raja Saab, and prior agreements won’t allow them to remove the movie and give the theatre to others. Had Tamil films been added to this race, securing a huge number of screens for a superhit film would have gotten tougher.

Also, going by the talk around Parasakthi and Vaa Vaathi in Tamil, thank god, we have avoided them; Otherwise, even with the flop talk, those films would have locked some theatres, even though with fewer to nil revenues, thus blocking many theatres unnecessarily.
