There are some senior stars who everyone thought had reached the fag end of their career. Then there are some happening young heroes in their 40s, across all the Tiers we have. Right now, everyone is talking about one thing: that the seniors are doing well, while the young heroes are struggling to get things right. Let’s have a look at it.

This year, Chiranjeevi opens the show with Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, then Raviteja brings box-office glory with Irumudi, and Rajnikanth once again scores big with the Jailer franchise. But then, the numbers posted by Prabhas’ The Raja Saab, Ram Charan’s Peddi, Nani’s The Paradise and Yash’s Toxic are also quite big, and even with flop talk, some of the movies entered the ₹300 crores club. So why is it that this year it looks like senior heroes are on top form?

Definitely, the credit should be given to the directors of the movies. With the likes of Anil Ravipudi and Nelson at the helm, surely they know how to utilise the talents of the seniors, and then they are deriving results. At the same time, if the young directors also team up with these filmmakers, they would also get some interesting results. But then, we have to say that seniors got pretty lucky this year, while young stars are struggling to get the right output.

But still, this year’s box office is a mix of both the seniors’ performance and juniors doing experiments and still recovering paisa from the ticket windows.
