Legendary director Shankar recently took to Twitter/X and expressed his displeasure over taking a few sequences from a novel that he bought the rights for. Shankar is one of the greatest South directors and his message-oriented commercial cinemas were a trendsetter back in 90s and 2000s. Despite hitting a rough patch over the past decade, he is planning to bounce back with 'Game Changer'.

His statement reads, “Attention to all ! As the copyright holder of Su. Venkatesan's iconic Tamil novel "Veera Yuga Nayagan Vel Paari", I'm disturbed to see key scenes being ripped off & used without permission in many movies. Really upset to see important key scene from the novel in a recent movie trailer. Kindly refrain from using the scenes from the novel in movies, web series and any medium, Respect creators' rights! Refrain from Unauthorized adaptations of scenes, Refrain from infringement or face legal action!”

People are now wondering about the movie Shankar was referring to. The trailers of both 'Kanguva' and 'Devara' came out recently and people are eager to find out which movie's trailer made Shankar angry. Most of the netizens say that it is NTR's 'Devara' as Koratala Siva's story has the same coastal backdrop and different communities in that area just like the novel. Barring the Tamil literature lovers, the outsiders are unaware of his novel and the film is yet to be released. We will be getting more information regarding this once the film hits the screens on 27th. There are equal suspicions about 'Kanguva' too but we need to wait longer for that.
