There was a time when Shriya Saran could light up a screen just by walking in. She had that charm, graceful yet bold. But this new item song, Kanakam, from the upcoming movie Non-Violence, honestly, feels like a half-hearted attempt to bring that magic back. She looks great, no doubt, the outfit, the poise, the confidence, all still there. But the song itself doesn’t give her much to play with. The beats are mild, the tune doesn’t stick, and even the dance moves feel a little too careful, like everyone was holding back a bit.

Now, when you’ve got names like Nora Fatehi, Jacqueline Fernandez, Kriti Sanon, and Malaika Arora setting the bar sky-high with energetic, viral-ready numbers, a song like this just doesn’t hit hard enough. There’s no catchy hook step, no thumping drop that gets the crowd going. It’s more of a nice to watch once kind of song, not something that’ll have reels flooding the internet.

To be fair, Shriya gives it her all. She still moves with grace, her expressions are sharp, and there’s a spark of that old confidence peeking through. But for a real comeback, she needed a song that explodes, not one that politely hums along. Something rawer, bolder, a little wild maybe.

So yeah, it’s nice seeing her back, but the song itself doesn’t quite roar. It’s like bringing a candle to a fireworks show, pretty, but not enough to outshine the rest. Maybe next time, with a stronger beat and some unapologetic masala, Shriya might just get that spotlight blazing again.
