By: Tupaki Desk | 8 March 2025 6:53 AMShruti Haasan did not have a solo release in 2024 after having a successful year in 2023 with songs like Veera Simha Reddy, Waltair Veerayya, and Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire. But with a number of projects, including Coolie, Train, Jana Nayagan, Lion, and Salaar 2, she is poised to make a strong return in 2025. On the occasion of Women's Day, Shruti takes a minute to address a significant issue-gender bias in the industry-as she prepares for these thrilling flicks.
Speaking on how women's rights have changed in the entertainment industry, Shruti recounted the hardships that earlier generations—including her mother, actress Sarika—had to endure. My mother used to describe the situation to me in those days. Equality was a far-off dream, and women were given very little emphasis," Shruti said. She also emphasized the taboo nature of some subjects, such as menstruation. Nobody dared to discuss menstruation back then. They would keep shooting without saying anything, even if it made them uncomfortable," she continued.
Shruti admitted that although things have changed, there are still difficulties. "At least we can now talk freely about these problems. People will understand if a woman says, "I need a break, I am not feeling well today." However, she pointed out that equality is still being worked on. She underlined how critical it is to dispel misconceptions and guarantee that women in the field are treated with the same dignity, compensation, and chances as men.
Shruti Haasan continues to leave her mark on and off screen with a solid filmography and an even more powerful voice. Her fearless approach to industry prejudice, as she begins yet another hectic year, serves as a reminder that although there has been progress, the struggle for full equality is still ongoing!
