Known for producing big-star films like Komaram Puli and Khaleja, Ramesh Babu fought a legal battle for 14 years related to a legal case. Recently, the court acquitted him dismissing the case. He held a press conference to address the issue.

"I am a film financier. I entered the film industry with a passion and became a producer. Cinema is like a mother to me and I was falsely accused in a case related to my 10-acre property in Mahabalipuram. Many people filed cases against me. I fought the legal battle for 14 years, and the court has acquitted me, ruling that the case was false. False cases do not stand in court. My legal battle has been won," said producer Singanamala Ramesh Babu. In the same press meet, he answered to many questions and few of them are here:

What action will you take against those who filed the case against you?

- I have no personal grudges. I will continue fighting in the legal domain if needed.

Will you continue in films in the future?

- I am a film financier. I entered the industry with a passion and became a producer. Cinema is like a mother to me. I will continue in this field in the future. I have two children and both have made their mark as heroes, earning hits. Now, they are interested in direction and writing. I will also continue as a producer and financier.

Who filed the case against you? Are they related to the film industry?

- The people who filed the case against me are not from the industry.

Did you face losses after producing films with top heroes?

- In the past, films were completed within six months or a year. However, due to my misfortune, some of the big hero films I worked on took nearly three years to complete. There were many reasons for that. For those two films, I incurred a loss of up to 100 crores.

What was the case filed against you?

- I was accused of defrauding 14 crores. The case was filed alleging that I sold my 10-acre property in Mahabalipuram to one person without others knowing. After a prolonged legal investigation, the court acquitted me, and the property is still under my name.

Your story seems like a movie script. Do you think there’s a chance for a film about it?

- If I made it a web series, it could go on for a thousand episodes. But who would watch my story? (laughs)

How profitable is the finance business?

- We earned through the finance business, which I inherited from my father. However, filmmaking is always a gamble. It’s that gambling aspect that caused me to lose 100 crores in two films. But I am hearing that the current film production is doing well. People say producers are making 10 rupees from every 100 rupees invested.

What lessons have you learned from this journey?

- Films should be made only when you have a grip on 24 crafts.

Did C Kalyan become a partner in Khaleja?

- No, he did not. He completed the film with my money. When I was in trouble, it was God who supported me.

What kind of films do you wish to make?

- The story is my hero. I will make films believing in the power of the story. I want to make both big films and content-based films. Soon, there might be an announcement about a new project.
