After his recent demise at the age of 94, fans are once again remembering his wonderful contribution to Telugu cinema. Here are five of his best fantasy and fantasy-related films that showed his unique vision.
1. Bhairava Dweepam
Bhairava Dweepam is one of the most memorable fantasy films in Telugu cinema. Starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, the film had magic, mystery, powerful villains and a fascinating world. The story took audiences into a completely different fantasy setting. The film is still loved for its visuals, songs and storytelling.
2. Aditya 369
Aditya 369 is probably one of Singeetham’s most ambitious films. The movie mixed science fiction, time travel and history. Balakrishna played the lead role, while the story took the characters to different periods of time.
The idea of a time machine was very different for Telugu cinema at that time. Even today, the film is considered a cult classic and is remembered as one of the director's biggest achievements.
3. Pushpaka Vimanam
Pushpaka Vimanam showed how Singeetham could create magic even without depending heavily on dialogue. Kamal Haasan played the lead in this silent comedy. The film used visual storytelling in a brilliant way and became a landmark in Indian cinema.
4. Mayuri
Mayuri was another unusual film from Singeetham. Based on the life of dancer Sudha Chandran, the movie combined emotion, determination and an inspiring story. It showed the director's ability to handle a completely different subject with sensitivity.
5. Apoorva Sagodharargal
Singeetham also worked with Kamal Haasan on Apoorva Sagodharargal, a film that combined emotion, action and unusual characters. The film became popular for its innovative storytelling and Kamal Haasan's performances.
Singeetham Srinivasa Rao's biggest strength was his courage to experiment and all these movies proved the same along with his last film Sing Geetham.
