Tollywood producer SKN has sparked fresh debate in the film industry with his open warning to influential producers and major theatre owners.
By: Tupaki Desk | 8 Jan 2026 11:00 AM ISTThe film distribution and exhibition prospect has been a major cause of concern for Telugu cinema in recent years as small films have been arguing that they have not been getting enough screens. This was addressed by producer SKN yesterday and here is what he had to say.
Tollywood producer SKN has sparked fresh debate in the film industry with his open warning to influential producers and major theatre owners. Speaking candidly at a recent public interaction, SKN expressed his frustration over what he sees as unfair screen allocation practices during big film releases. He made it clear that smaller or medium range films often struggle to secure theatres when projects backed by powerful names dominate the market.
SKN stated that he is not asking for favors or special treatment but only a fair chance for his film to reach audiences. He remarked that even if a single theatre is allotted, he would be grateful and openly acknowledge the support.
However, he also warned that if his film is denied screens despite demand, he would not remain silent. According to him, he is prepared to repeatedly raise the issue in public forums and on social media until the matter is addressed.
His comments quickly drew attention across Tollywood circles, with many interpreting them as a direct message to top industry players who control distribution and exhibition networks.
While some supported SKN for speaking up against an unequal system, others felt his approach was too aggressive. The episode has once again highlighted the ongoing struggle between powerful production houses and smaller filmmakers, reopening discussions about transparency, fairness, and equal opportunity in the Telugu film industry.
