Chhaava Goes Tax-Free in These States!

Bollywood Actor Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava is on a winning streak, crossing ₹200 crores within just seven days. As a major boost for the film and its fans, two states have officially declared it tax-free, further fueling excitement.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav made the first announcement on February 19, coinciding with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary. Speaking at a public gathering, he revealed that Chhaava, which chronicles the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, would be tax-free in the state. Later, taking to X, he reiterated, “On the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary, I announce the tax-free release of Chhaava based on his son Sambhaji Maharaj.”

Goa followed suit, with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant also granting tax-free status to the film. Sharing the news on X, he wrote, “Victory to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj! Chhaava brings the glorious history of this great warrior to life, showcasing his valor and sacrifice. The story of the second Chhatrapati of Hindavi Swarajya, who fearlessly fought against the Mughals and the Portuguese, is an inspiration for all.”

With growing demand for Maharashtra to do the same, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed the issue. While Maharashtra removed the entertainment tax in 2017, he acknowledged the film’s cultural importance and assured that steps would be taken to promote it widely. As Chhaava continues its triumphant run, the calls for more states to support the film are only getting louder.
