Singer Furious With Padma Shri Awards: What’s Up?

Compared to the South Indian film industry, the Hindi film industry is far more vocal about certain issues and complicated developments. The same is to be understood if we look at the fact that Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam has called out the government Of India regarding the recently announced Padmashri awards.

The super popular singer felt that the government of India is very lethargic with its approach when it comes to allocating Padma awards to leading singers in India.

In his latest video, Nigam noted that the government must be more proactive when it comes to recognizing singers, and according them with Padma awards as a token of recognition.

Sonu Nigam stated that his contemporary like Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal, Kishore Kumar and several others haven’t yet been recognized and according to the Padma awards, which is a blatant lack of recognition.

The point to be noted here is that Sonu Nigam had already won the Padmashri award back in 2022 and is fairly compensated for the same. However, his concern is that his fellow singers are not getting this due recognition, which is the reason for his outburst today.

Bollywood has produced some of the most talented and widely recognized singers over the last few decades, and it is only right that they are appropriately recognized for the same by the government of India.
