In an important update for the film industry, the South Indian Film Producers Association made a big announcement on April 19, 2026. A special meeting was held at Hotel Dasapalla in Hyderabad. Many leading producers and representatives from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala attended this meeting.

The main aim of the meeting was to discuss the serious challenges faced by film producers today. The members clearly said that no major decisions should be taken without proper discussion with producers. They strongly opposed any one-sided decisions, especially related to theatre release terms and the 8-week OTT release window. According to them, sudden changes can disturb the entire system and affect thousands of people who depend on the film industry for their livelihood.

One of the biggest outcomes of the meeting was the formation of a new body called the South Indian Film Producers Association (SIFPA). This association is created to protect the interests of producers and to make sure their voices are heard in all important decisions.

A high-level steering committee has also been formed. This committee includes members from all four South Indian film industries. Their role is to handle current issues and improve coordination between different regions. They will meet regularly to discuss problems and find solutions.

The association also gave clear advice to producers. They said that producers can continue their film work, sales, and release plans as usual. No outside body should control their decisions. Producers were also told not to sign or agree to any OTT release window commitments at this stage. Any such decision should only be taken after proper group discussions. The newly formed SIFPA aims to make sure that producers remain strong and independent.

This move is seen as a major step towards unity among South Indian producers.
