During a news conference, Sri Vishnu addressed the controversy and made it clear that the phrases in question were not intended to harm anyone.
By: Tupaki Desk | 1 May 2025 9:31 PM ISTWith movies like Om Bheem Bush and Swag failing to make an impression at the box office, Sri Vishnu, who is well-known for hits like Brochevarevura and Raja Raja Chora, has recently been going through a difficult time. But after the release of its trailer, his next movie, #Single, has sparked controversy.
Some of the lines in the humorous track of the trailer made a stir, especially when Sri Vishnu yells "Shivayya," which was reminiscent of a similar scene in the teaser for Manchu Vishnu's Kannappa movie. Because the reference provoked trolls and angered the Kannappa crew, tensions increased.
During a news conference, Sri Vishnu addressed the controversy and made it clear that the phrases in question were not intended to harm anyone. He stated that his movie would make lighthearted, humorous allusions to a number of other movies and heroes. Vishnu apologized when questioned about the matter, saying that neither the "Shivayya" allusion nor any other line in the video was meant to do harm to anyone. In an attempt to clear the air, he even made a video in which he apologized for any confusion and confirmed that the contentious words had been completely cut from the movie.
While acknowledging that some of the references, such as those to Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, and others, may have been misinterpreted, Sri Vishnu clarified in the video that movie references and memes are a part of the current trend in filmmaking. He sincerely apologized to Manchu Vishnu and all those who may have been harmed.
