Despite recent setbacks, director Sreenu Vaitla still carries that reputation of handling comedy brilliantly if the script clicks. On the other hand, hero Sharwanand is in need of a solid commercial comeback. These two have joined hands for a film, which is rumoured to be titled George Krish. Initially planned as a Sankranthi 2027 release and confirmed by Sharwa during Biker promotions, the project had decent buzz around it, mainly because of the combination.

But now, things are not moving as smoothly as expected. As per inside talk, the film’s cost is going way beyond the initial estimates, and that has pushed the producer into a dilemma. For a combination that is not at its peak market value, mounting a high-budget film is always a risky move. As OTT deals are not getting closed for high rates these days, surely the makers need to cut down the budgets big time.

Reportedly titled George Krish, the film is said to be a time-travel drama with a controversial religious angle. A Hindu boy falling in love with a Christian girl, travelling back to the 1800s to alter her family’s conversion, and then returning to the present only to find his own identity changed, happens to be the storyline of the movie. While it’s a risky and sensitive idea, surely the director is carving out a space with loads of comedy infused.

On top of that, most of Sreenu Vaitla’s movies are demanding huge amounts from the producers, and they are pushing the budget of the film to a new level. We have to see if the makers would budge and invest more money, or they would insist on cutting down the costs.
