They say that OTT platforms are not acquiring big-ticket films at exorbitant prices any more, as the reality of the OTT streams, the number of views, and the success of the film at the box office are not adding up.
A news report is doing rounds that when a Netflix Vice President is asked if they are acquiring Rajamouli’s Varanasi or not, he’s said to have commented that there is no question of any announcement regarding that, and the audience has to have some surprises. But the VP has also confirmed that the best stories and biggest creators will always be there on Netflix. Many are wondering if that means Varanasi has already cut a deal with Netflix.
At the same time, recently Rajamouli also confirmed that the acquisition of RRR by Netflix has helped him a lot in getting attention in connection with the Oscar awards campaign and other promotions in Hollywood. Going by that, definitely Rajamouli wants to associate with Netflix for sure, no matter how the price variations are there.
Back in Hyderabad, the shooting of Varanasi was given a small break, and it will resume big time soon. Already, the star director has wrapped a lot of portions of the movie, and the VFX teams are busy carving out lots of work for the film.
