Small Film Clashes With Rajamouli’s SSMB 29

The much-awaited reveal of the title for SSMB 29 directed by SS Rajamouli and starring superstar Mahesh Babu, is scheduled for November 15. However title mystery has already taken a surprising turn. According to leaked reports, the movie might be titled Varanasi but fans are unsure if such a name would suit a large scale global project like this one.

This situation reminds many of the buzz during RRR’s early days. Back then, several titles were discussed before Rajamouli confirmed RRR, which eventually became a brand of its own worldwide. Now history seems to be repeating itself as speculation around SSMB 29 grows stronger by the day.

But the twist came when a small production team recently announced a fantasy film also titled Varanasi. Directed and produced by CH Subba Reddy, the team released a first-look poster with minimal details. The timing of this announcement, just weeks before the Rajamouli–Mahesh event surprised everyone. Fans are now debating whether this smaller film used the title first to claim it legally or if Rajamouli’s team has a completely different title in mind.

Interestingly similar title issue once occurred during Mahesh Babu’s Khaleja days. To avoid confusion, the makers added Mahesh Khaleja to the title. This raises curiosity about whether Varanasi will face a similar fate or if Rajamouli has something entirely new and unexpected planned.
