Talk: Star Power Won't Work For Productions

At a time when the films featuring the star heroes and star directors are getting directly criticised if the content is not engaging, what about those projects that are backed by these star heroes and directors? To be more precise, the future of projects that are produced by big stars is not getting as much buzz as they used to get earlier.

The other day, the teaser of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s production venture “Romanchikam” got released. Last week, Mahesh Babu’s production venture “Rao Bahadhur” hit cinemas. Recently, we have seen Dhanush’s directorial film also released. While Romanchikam isn’t trending everywhere, Rao Bahadhur got rejected outright for its preachy, lengthy and boring content. Similarly, Dhanush’s directorial venture also didn’t get enough response. That means the star power of Mahesh, Dhanush or Sandeep Vanga is not working out, unless the content is good.

That brings us to the talk that a film works only if the content is impressive, and star power can only amplify it at that time. And if the content is not good, then no star power could act as a catalyst to bring the audience to theatres. So one could confidently say that star power will not work of production ventures of stars, unless there’s something exciting inside.
