Though actors, heroes, and heroines can amass huge fame by acting in Telugu films directed by Telugu makers, that definitely doesn’t mean they can come up with their directorial debut one day and score big with it. Gone are the days when audiences will come to theatres just by looking at the combination, but they will come to theatres only if the content excites them. Here’s another proof now.

Recently, we have seen that senior hero, Kannada star Arjun Sarja, who is known for hit films back in the late 80s and 90s in the Telugu industry, has come with the movie “Seetha Payanam”, which has his daughter Aishwarya in a leading role. The film was promoted well, but hasn’t seen any footfalls owing to the fact that the content does not reflect the enthusiasm and confidence of Arjun.

Now, we have Varalakshami Sarathkumar making a big name with some negative characters; she has now tried her hand at directing with S. Saraswathi, in which she also acted in the lead role. While the story sounded good, somehow the film faltered in execution and lacked patrons inside theatres as we speak.

The bottom line is that these actors and actresses should actually know the fact that a film runs not because of their image and the adulation they are enjoying, but only because of intriguing, engaging content. Whether that is thriller, horror, or comedy, only engaging content is working, and these stars should focus more on writing the project well, rather than focusing on promotions.
