Fans use different platforms to share their love for their favourite heroes and heroines. They also create memes, troll videos and posts about movies and celebrities. While some of these posts are made for fun, the situation is becoming serious these days. Online trolling and negative comments are hurting many actors emotionally.
In the past, fans used to express their opinions about movies and performances. If they did not like a film then they would share their views and move on. But now, some people continue to target actors even after a movie's release. They create negative campaigns, spread unwanted rumours and post insulting comments about heroes and heroines.
Criticism is a part of the film industry. Every actor cannot satisfy every audience member. People have the right to like or dislike a film. But surely there is a big difference between criticising a performance and personally attacking an actor. Making fun of someone's acting is one thing but using abusive language against them is completely different.
The situation becomes even worse when fans start targeting the families of actors. Sometimes comment sections of social media platforms are filled with offensive remarks about their parents, partners and children. Such behaviour crosses all limits. Families have nothing to do with the success or failure of a movie.
Actors may look happy and confident on screen but they are also human beings with feelings. Continuous trolling, personal attacks and negative campaigns can cause emotional stress and affect their mental well being. Nobody knows how deeply such comments may hurt a person behind the camera.
Another important question is why people show so much hatred towards celebrities they have never met personally. Actors work in the film industry as their profession. They entertain audiences and earn money through their work. Their success should not become a reason for jealousy or personal hatred.
If people do not like an actor or a movie, they can simply ignore it. Nobody is forcing them to watch a film or follow a celebrity. Disagreement is natural but spreading hatred is unnecessary.
Social media should be a place where people can share their opinions without hurting others. Memes and jokes can be entertaining, but they should not become tools for insulting people. Fans must understand that supporting their favourite stars does not mean attacking others.
For sure, films are meant to entertain us. A difference of opinion should never become a reason to destroy someone's peace of mind. Criticise the film if you want, but do not forget the human being behind the screen.
