Upholding the 2011 judgment passed by the then High Court that Siddharth should be sentenced to 2 years in jail, the SC ordered him to serve the same.
Coming back to details, back in 2002, when Pratyusha was just making up as a heroine in the Telugu industry and grabbed some big films, in an expected twist of sorts, both Pratyusha and her boyfriend Siddharth Reddy consumed a pesticide to kill themselves. The three-member inquiry commission, consisting of Doctors, set by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, ruled out any rape and forced killing in the case.
Both Siddharth and Pratyusha consumed an insecticide, and the former was charged with abetting suicide and trying to commit suicide under Sections 306 and 309. In 2004, a sessions Court fined Siddharth Reddy and awarded him 5 years in prison, while the High Court reduced the sentence to 2 years in jail back in 2011.
