By: Tupaki Desk | 26 April 2025 7:08 AMIt is an established fact that Tamil superstar Suriya is a hugely loved hero in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He is fondly referred to as the adopted son of Telugu states, which is a result of the kind of good films and attention grabbing promotions that he had done here in the past.
Coming to the topic now, Suriya is closely, anticipating the release of his upcoming film Retro. While this film is preparing for release on May 1, there is something off about the promotional campaign that has been devised.
Primarily speaking, the film is being released in the Telugu state by none another than Sithara Entertainments. They have a huge distribution network and our certain to give the film a big release in the Telugu states.
However, the issue has been with the kind of promotional material that has been released. Earlier, the teaser of the film had a smashing impact, and it had great visuals. However, the subsequent trailer that was released, had a very shaky and confusing vibe.
By the looks of it, Retro is going to be a vintage action film, and the same was indicated by the director of the film, Karthik Subbaraj as well.
The implication here is that the film is going to follow a very vintage format when it comes to screenplay and presentation. Will this be appealing to the contemporary audience, who are looking for New kind of stuff?
What is for certain is that the promotional material that has been released in the recent times has been below par quality.
Interestingly enough, it can also be noted that Suriya who usually comes out to promote his films in Hyderabad is strangely silent about this film. He did not show much interest in promoting it in the Telugu state this time. Adding to that the hype and anticipation surrounding the film is also not too positive.
It has to be seen if Retro will be able to break out of the blocks and deliver a winning theatrical experience and turn out to be a surprise hit.
