Tamil Cinema�s 1000 Cr Dream: Will It Ever Become Reality?

It is already known that the Telugu film industry has the reputation of producing some of the biggest blockbusters of all time in the history of Indian cinema. The fact that we have multiple films like Kalki, RRR, Baahubali 2 and Pushpa 2 in the Thousand crore bracket is clear indication of the same.

On the other hand, we also have Kannada cinema, which has the epic KGF 2 in this Thousand crore zone. This brings us to the discussion about whether or not Tamil cinema would be able to produce its first ever thousand crore film.

A few people publicly commented that the Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj collaborative project Coolie would be able to achieve then feat. They overestimated from the sensational advance bookings for this film and felt that it would eventually properly into the 1000 crore club.

However, the reality is turning out to be extremely different as this film might not be coming given remotely close to touching the 1000 crore market. Even reaching 500 to 600 crore might be rough from here.

While the most anticipated Tamil films like this Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj film are also struggling to generate such massive revenues than there is very little chance that Tamil cinema will be able to actually deliver 1000 crore film.

The most important factor here is that a Tamil film must have strong support from the Hindi audience if they Are to touch the thousand crore club, but that does not look likely, given the kind of films that they have been making.
