The discussion about nepotism is common in every film industry. In Telugu cinema, many viewers often feel that star kids get more attention and better opportunities because of their family background. At the same time, Tamil cinema is showing a different trend that is getting attention.

Tamil cinema has seen directors and technicians trying acting and finding success. Lokesh Kanagaraj and Pradeep Ranganathan are two examples of this change. Both started their careers as directors and later decided to face the camera as lead actors.

Pradeep Ranganathan became popular with films that connected strongly with young audiences. His success as a filmmaker gave him confidence to enter acting. His films also showed that a person does not always need a famous acting family to attract viewers.

Lokesh Kanagaraj is another interesting example. He became one of the most successful young directors in Tamil cinema before making his acting debut. His entry created curiosity because audiences already knew him for his filmmaking skills. His debut also received strong attention.

This trend is important because it shows that Tamil cinema is giving space to people from different backgrounds. A director can become an actor, a technician can become a filmmaker, and a newcomer can slowly build a place through talent and audience support.

Telugu cinema has also introduced many outsiders and newcomers over the years. However, the industry is often seen as being strongly influenced by established families. Star kids naturally get more media attention, bigger launches and greater visibility because their family names already have strong value.

That does not mean every star kid succeeds. Ultimately, the audience decides whether an actor can continue in the industry. But the difference in the opportunities available to newcomers remains a topic of discussion.

The Tamil trend raises an important question for Tollywood. Why should only established actors and their families dominate the biggest opportunities? Telugu cinema has many talented directors, writers and technicians who could also explore acting if they get the right support.

For now, Tamil cinema appears more open to this kind of experiment. Tollywood may also need more such risks if it wants to create fresh faces and new stars without depending too much on familiar family names.
