It is not only about creating stories; it is about handling crores of money, managing stars, meeting deadlines, and facing the brutal truth of box-office numbers. One success can make the company shine, but one flop can drown it in debt. For directors who already carry the burden of storytelling, production adds a weight that is far heavier than the applause of fans.
A celebrated Tamil filmmaker, known for delivering multiple blockbusters, tried his hand at producing films as well. He started with NH-4 featuring Siddharth and went on to back several projects under the banner of Grass Root Film Company. While his direction gave him respect, his production journey became a tightrope walk of risks and responsibilities. The latest project from his banner, Bad Girl, is now ready to release. But instead of celebrating, he chose this stage to reveal an unexpected decision.
Speaking openly at a promotional event, he admitted that producing movies has been more stressful than fulfilling. He said that while direction gives him creative freedom, production traps him under financial strain and endless management challenges. With a clear voice, he announced that Bad Girl will be the last film under his production banner.
The news surprised the industry, as no one expected such a big step from a director of his stature. He made it clear that while he will continue as a filmmaker, he is done with production. For him, direction is freedom, but production is pressure, and he has chosen peace over burden.
