Shocking: Telugu Director Used Golti In Tamil Film?
X

It is already known that the controversial term Golgi is used by Tamil people to discriminate the Telugu population in Tamil Nadu. Now something pathetic and shocking has happened with regard to the usage of this word in a Tamil film.

The behavior of the Parasakthi team is disgusting and deeply disappointing. Using the derogatory word “Golti” twice in the Tamil version of the film to refer to Telugu people is completely unacceptable.

This is not casual slang but a clearly offensive term that has been used for years to demean and insult an entire linguistic community. Including such language in a mainstream film reflects poor judgment and a disturbing lack of sensitivity.

What makes the issue even more shocking is that director Sudha Kongara herself is a Telugu woman. One would expect greater awareness and responsibility, not the promotion of language that hurts her own community.

Equally disappointing is Sivakarthikeyan, who has been warmly accepted and supported by Telugu audiences over the years. Using or allowing such insulting references in a film feels like a betrayal of that goodwill and respect.

Cinema has the power to unite people across regions and cultures, not divide them through cheap and offensive remarks. At a time when audiences are increasingly calling for inclusivity and mutual respect, such content feels regressive and ugly.

The makers cannot hide behind the excuse of creative freedom when it comes at the cost of insulting millions of people. An apology and accountability from the team is the bare minimum expected. Silence or justification will only make the damage worse.
