Tamil Heroes Crashing At Telugu & OTT Market

In recent times, except for Suriya, who has recovered a lot with the success of movies like Karuppu and Viswanath & Sons, the other Tamil heroes have completely lost their dominance in the Telugu market. Once upon a time, for heroes like Vishal, Karthi, Simbu, Vijay Antony and a few others, their Telugu market used to be bigger than the Tamil market. That said, this led to a tremendous expansion of their satellite, OTT and remake rights market. But those days are gone now.

Apparently, Karthi’s latest movies like Vaa Vaathiyar and recently Sardar 2 have crashed big time in Telugu as well. Those films are right now turning up on the OTT in just 2-3 weeks’ time. These days, if a film can’t keep the OTTs waiting for 4-8 weeks after theatrical release, surely that film is something that didn’t work. The same is the case with the movies of Vishal, Simbu and Vijay Antony, as their recent movies turned up on OTTs in less than a month of time. That shows the fact that the market for these heroes crashed big time.

Except for a few heroes like Dhanush, Suriya, Vijay and Rajnikanth, whose films work irrespective of talk and make good money from digital rights, the market of other heroes is to be recovered, reconstructed, and remade well. Else, things should not be taken for granted for long.
