Speaking at the trailer launch event of Vadhala, he said that making films has become much more difficult than before. His comments have started a fresh discussion about the problems faced by producers and filmmakers.
Tammareddy said that in the past, filmmakers mainly made movies for the audience. Today, however, many films are being planned by keeping OTT platforms, satellite channels, and other business factors in mind. According to him, producers now have to satisfy many different buyers before releasing a film. Because of this, several movies are getting delayed for years.
He explained that after the COVID-19 pandemic, the film industry changed a lot. OTT platforms became very powerful, and their decisions now have a big impact on movie releases. In some cases, producers are unable to announce release dates because digital rights are not sold. This has created financial pressure on many filmmakers.
The veteran producer also compared today's industry with the past. He said that legendary stars like Chiranjeevi and Krishna used to release many films every year. Today, most top stars take two or even three years to complete one project. While filmmakers say this is for better quality, not every film becomes a box office success.
He also pointed out that even successful films do not always perform well in every market. A movie that becomes a hit in Telugu states may not do well overseas or in other languages. This makes producers more careful while investing huge amounts of money.
Another concern is the growing trend of spending several years on large-scale projects. Even actors with a small market are working on expensive films that take a long time to finish. Despite such efforts, there is no guarantee that the movie will attract audiences.
Tammareddy believes the industry should focus more on what viewers actually want instead of only thinking about business deals. Many people feel his words reflect the reality of the present film industry. As Tollywood continues to face new challenges, filmmakers may need to find a better balance between creative storytelling, audience expectations and commercial success.
