Success is like fire, it spreads fast, but with it comes smoke. The Action Adventure Fantasy Thriller film Mirai, starring Teja Sajja, Manchu Manoj and directed by Karthik, is lighting up the box office. Produced by TG Vishwaprasad and Kriti Prasad under People Media Factory, the movie stormed into theatres with strong buzz. Collections speak louder than words: Rs. 27.2 crores on day one, Rs. 28.4 crores on day two, and Rs. 81.2 crores on day three. By the weekend, Mirai was racing past the Rs. 100 crore mark, earning both money and momentum.

But when the applause gets loud, so do the whispers. A controversy broke out online after a user, Ravi Vallabhaneni, claimed Mirai copied the 1969 film Mahabaludu starring Superstar Krishna. He even shared a YouTube link, sparking debates. Netizens split into camps, some argued that similarities exist and called it “copying with respect,” while others dismissed the claim, saying the story, emotions, and characters of Mirai stand apart.

Even with the debate raging, the industry seems to be backing the film. Ram Gopal Varma, never one to stay quiet, tweeted that the VFX shots in Mirai looked superior to those in films costing Rs. 400 crores.

Controversy or not, Mirai continues to shine. For the audience, the high-octane action and visual spectacle seem to matter more than old allegations. With box office numbers climbing and positive talk spreading, the film looks unstoppable. Whether it borrowed from the past or not, Mirai has managed to catch the present, and for now, that’s enough to keep the fire glowing.
