Gaddar Awards: Huge Embarrassment for India’s Biggest Writer?
A report is doing rounds that when writer Vijayendra Prasad, father of legendary filmmaker SS Rajamouli, and the man behind films like Baahubali
By: Shanaz B Syed | 20 March 2026 11:00 PM ISTThe other day, the Telangana Government has most prestigiously held the “Telangana Gaddar Film Awards” event at a popular seven-star hotel in Hyderabad, honouring the best of talents. From honouring Megastar Chiranjeevi to that of R Narayana Murthy with awards, the event was stunning. However, there are some disappointments too, if reports coming from the media circles are anything to go by.
A report is doing rounds that when writer Vijayendra Prasad, father of legendary filmmaker SS Rajamouli, and the man behind films like Baahubali, RRR, and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, was about to enter the event, some of the event managers stopped him, asking him if he was R Narayana Murthy, and that insult led to the writer walking out of the venue. At the same time, even ace producer Suresh Babu was said to be humiliated by the security folks at the event, they say. So, why did this happen?
In order to avoid unnecessary biases if they handle the entire event to a local event company that Telugu Industry is familiar with, the Telangana Government gave the whole event to a Mumbai-based company, which doesn’t know anything about Telugu celebs. At the same time, the staff employed by them are also from Mumbai only, and they didn’t identify the Telugu celebs. Well, that’s the biggest mistake, isn’t it? However, none of the celebs has come out openly about this so far.
