A decade ago, the likes of Sreenu Vaitla, Sampath Nandi, and Surender Reddy were all top directors who delivered back-to-back hits at the box office. However, when the likes of Rajamouli and Sukumar are carving films more responsibly, taking long times to carve out different but viable commercial content, these directors made some quick films. That put them on the verge of fadeout after those movies failed.

However, 2026 is going to be a striking comeback for all those directors as they now have films in hand with heroes who have a good market. While Sampath Nandi already carved out Bhogi with Sharwanand, which will be getting ready soon, director Sreenu Vaitla’s project with the hero is going to the floors next month. That’s a big break for these two directors if they could utilise it.

Known for stunners like Kick and Race Gurram, director Surender Reddy has witnessed a major downward spiral after Akhil’s Agent. He’s now directing a film with none other than Pawan Kalyan. Like how Saaho fame Sujith resurrected after #OG, Surender Reddy might get a shot at redemption now.

At the same time, director Parasuram, who has delivered some hits in the initial stage of his career, has fallen into a slump after making “The Family Star” with Vijay Devarakonda. He’s said to have written a new story now, narrated it to Tamil star Surya, and the film might get okayed soon. If that happens, Dil Raju will produce it, thus giving a massive breakthrough to the director.
