Official: Telugu Film Chamber Announces New Wage Hikes!

The Telugu film industry recently suffered a significant blow in the form of the stoppage in film shoots due to the fact that cinema workers wanted a hike in wages. But this episode came to an end rather quickly after 18 days after Telugu film chamber approved the decision to hike the wages.

In this context, the chamber of commerce has issued a new communication on the elevated hikes, and here is a look at the kind of numbers that are on display now

The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce's decision to implement a 15% wage hike for junior artistes, production assistants, mahila workers, drivers, lightmen, studio workers, cine artistes, outdoor technicians, and costumers unions, effective August 22, 2025.

This follows a contentious rejection of a 30% demand by the Telugu Film Industry Employees’ Federation, highlighting a compromise amid ongoing industry financial strain, as reported by The Hindu on August 5, 2025.

This wage adjustment, also granting a 7.5% increase to specialized roles such as makeup & hair stylists, stunt directors & artists, dancers & dance directors, and dubbing artistes unions, reflects a strategic balance after a potential strike.

With the Chamber citing lower living costs in Hyderabad (ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000 for a family of four as per 99acres.com, February 2024) and higher wages compared to other Indian film industries to justify the moderated hike.
