Vishwak, Ram & Abbavaram: Why, Why, Why?
There are many classic cases of Telugu heroes trying their hand at direction, but it worked out only occasionally.

There’s nothing wrong if one can deliver like some Tamil heroes, Pradeep Ranganathan, who have directed themselves and are delivering ₹100+ crore blockbusters. But why these Telugu heroes might spell trouble with their direction ventures is something to look into.
Apparently. Vishwaksen has earlier directed Falaknuma Das and later Dhamki, but both of them haven’t been those big blockbusters. Had those films got other directors, the run rate at the box office would have been different. Then comes Ram Pothineni, the senior hero who has almost 20 years of experience as a hero, now trying his hand at direction. While Ram is unable to pick up the right script all these days, right now picking up the direction mantle is taking more weight on his shoulders.
Similarly, we have Kiran Abbavaram also getting into direction. Ever since he shot to sudden fame during Covid times with an OTT movie, the hero has become sought after but never proved his mettle as an actor. The likes of Allu Arjun, NTR and other stars, who starred in many films when they were young, proved their acting prowess even in flop movies. With his acting mettle failing, many are wondering why Kiran is taking this extreme step.
Already, OTT payments are dwindling; the interest of the audience in films is waning due to poor content, and now if heroes focus on direction and acting, surely one of their jobs gets affected badly, is what many feel. Maybe they should get involved in scripting, but give direction to people with expertise, such that they would comfortably score blockbusters which are not coming their way.
