Almost all the Telugu superstars are chasing only pan-India success these days, and they are making content that will make a global appeal in that process. More than the routine templated storytelling, they are focusing on delivering fantasy films, epic movies and movies that have a story whose appeal would be for all the states of India. In that process, it looks like many Telugu heroes are losing one key aspect, the ‘nativity’. The Telugu nativity that would take the Telugu popularity to the next level.

Currently, Telugu films like Varanaasi, Raaka, Dragon, and Spirit all have either fantasy elements or foreign actors, and the backdrop spans across the world. Stars like Prabhas, Allu Arjun, Jr NTR and Mahesh Babu are trying to crack the nationwide box office, rather than just doing a film that revolves around some Telugu identity. Well, but what about Telugu nativity? Why are Telugu stars not doing Kantara? Why not Stree 2 like concepts? Why not Manjummel Boys or Thudarum? All those films have huge local flavour, but still did great at the Indian box office.

With every big film, Telugu filmmakers and star heroes giving up Telugu nativity is the question here. While doing big pan-India films is always appreciable, giving up the very own Telugu identity is the major minus of big Telugu projects these days. Films that deal with nativity, or stories that deal with Telugu lands, should be told to the audience across India, and our star directors as well as star heroes should realise that.
