By: Shanaz B Syed | 22 Oct 2025 12:27 PM ISTLike a firecracker that refuses to fizzle, Thamma exploded in theatres on Diwali, October 21, 2025. From metro multiplexes to smaller city screens, people lined up to catch Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a mix of scares and laughs. The festive timing clearly worked in the film’s favour, making it one of the most talked-about releases of the season.
The opening day numbers are solid. According to news, Thamma raked in ₹24.35 crore net, making it one of the bigger Bollywood openers of 2025. In the Maddock Films horror-comedy lineup, it sits just behind Stree 2, which had earned ₹35 crore. Ayushmann and Rashmika’s on-screen chemistry seems to have clicked again, and audiences are clearly enjoying their pairing.
The Diwali release gave Thamma another edge. With only one other film, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, hitting theatres alongside it, the movie had most of the screens to itself. Word-of-mouth spread quickly, and the festive mood helped bring in more viewers. Sure, it didn’t beat Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’s ₹32 crore opening last year, but the solo run and positive buzz make it look promising for the weekend.
Looking ahead, industry experts think Thamma could easily cross ₹75 crore by the end of the long holiday weekend. With audiences enjoying it and the festive energy still high, the film is on track to become another hit for Maddock’s horror-comedy universe. If it keeps this pace, Ayushmann and Rashmika’s pairing could turn into one of this year’s most reliable crowd-pullers.
