Among the young crowds of audience, director Tharun Bhaskar enjoys a good reputation. Owing to his films like Pelli Choopulu, Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi, and Keeda Cola, the director commands huge respect as a filmmaker, and then he proved himself as an actor. However, all that didn’t convert into the form of tickets at the Box office.

Last Friday, Tharun Bhaskar’s first full-fledged movie as the leading man, “Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi”, a remake of the Malayalam film Jaya Jaya Jaya Jayahe, hit cinemas. Going by the trade buzz, the film didn’t get any good openings. Despite Tharun Bhaskar being quite popular among youths, and the film getting average to above-average reviews, it didn’t steal people’s attention.

While the film has Eesha Rebba as the leading lady, some say that any newcomer would have actually worked big time. Putting aside all those, trade observers feel that the Telugu audience is slowly going from the Holiday mood to work mode, while many youths are focusing on exams and college stuff. Looks like many factors affected the film’s chances.

On the other hand, if the content is strong, no matter what season the film comes, it will surely bring attention, box office revenues, and applause.
