The film had no Monday blues, as its Day 4 collections were higher than Day 1 showing how audiences are connecting with Bhooma’s emotional journey. Directed by Rahul Ravindran, the film is being praised as one of the best Telugu films of the year.
The Girlfriend tells the story of Bhooma, a woman who finds the courage to free herself from a controlling and abusive relationship. Rashmika’s performance has been described as heartfelt and honest by portraying the pain and strength of a woman rediscovering herself.
The film powerfully explores the silent suffering many women endure under patriarchy and how breaking free from it is both terrifying and liberating.
The Girlfriend bankrolled under the banners of Geetha Arts and Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainment. Cinematography is done by Krishnan Vasant, while Ramakrishna and Monika Nigotre took care of production design. The music for the film is composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab.
