Actor Tiruveer made his mark with movies like Palasa, Masooda, and Pareshan, is now playing the lead role in a new film directed by debutant Rahul Srinivas, titled The Great Pre Wedding Show. The movie is all set to release this Friday. Before its official release, the team arranged paid premieres to give audiences an early look. Let’s see what makes this film special.
Story:
Ramesh (Tiruveer) runs a photo studio and Xerox shop in a Srikakulam village, clicking pictures and shooting videos at weddings and local functions. He secretly loves Hema (Tina Shravya), who works as a secretary at the village panchayat. Hema also likes him, but they don’t express it openly to each other. One fine day, Ramesh gets a chance to do a pre-wedding shoot for a politically powerful guy, Anand (Narendra) and his would-be Soundarya (Yamini). Ramesh plans everything grandly and shoots it just the way Anand wants. But things take a wrong turn when his assistant accidentally loses the memory card containing the videos.
This unexpected mistake lands Ramesh in deep trouble and he goes to the extent of stopping Anand’s wedding by any means in order to come out of it. How the chip went missing and whether Ramesh manages to find it, and what happens to his love story with Hema form the rest of the story.
Analysis:
Some movies make noise big time because of their serious themes and strong stories, but not all of them manage to keep the audience engaged. On the other hand, a few films with simple stories work better at the Box Office when they focus on a fun and engaging narrative. Lately, many Tollywood comedy entertainers are choosing this second path, simple stories filled with good humor and lively characters. The Great Pre Wedding Show also belongs to that category.
This movie is a rare indie-style Telugu film, much like Cinema Bandi or Mail. Debutant director Rahul Srinivas crafted a light-hearted story with gentle humor that takes us back to a rural setup. The film doesn’t have a big, dramatic story, but its natural comedy and relatable characters make it enjoyable. The strength of The Great Pre Wedding Show lies in its organic narrative, with actors carrying every scene with ease, keeping the audience entertained for two hours.
We’ve seen many movies before where losing a data-chip creates serious problems, but here the director treats the same idea in a funny way. Even though emotional moments don’t hit too hard, the film doesn’t fail to make you laugh. The makers cleverly used popular pre-wedding shoot satires we often see in memes. The village backdrop adds to the humor, showing the innocence and quirks of local people. The love track between the hero and heroine feels ordinary, but performances from Tiruveer as the photographer, Rohan as his assistant, and Narendra as the groom keep things lively. The pre-wedding shoot sequence in the first half is the real highlight, followed by a nice little twist involving the lost chip.
After the interval, the story slows down for a bit with some emotional moments but soon gets back into the comedy zone. Especially the comedy scenes by the boy (Rohan) who causes the main issue, are funny and entertaining. Even though the pre-climax feels a bit stretched, the climax brings everything together nicely. The film ends with a mix of laughter and an undercurrent message about love and weddings. Without big stars or a grand story, The Great Pre Wedding Show still feels pretty fresh and is a genuine attempt. If you step into theatres with an open mind, surely you will walk out smiling and satisfied.
Performances:
After proving his talents earlier, Tiruveer once again delivered a simple and natural performance that feels effortless. He doesn’t come across as a typical hero on the screen, but as a genuine character inside the story world. His expressions and timing in both comedy and emotional scenes are spot-on. He portrayed the innocence of the role quite perfectly.
Tina Sravya looks charming and performs her part with sweetness. She fits well in her role and adds freshness to the film. Narendra, who plays Anand, truly stands out, he can easily be called the main highlight of the movie. Having mostly done small roles before, he shines in this full-length character, balancing comedy and emotion with ease. Yamini, who plays his pair, also performs well and complements him nicely.
Child artist Rohan Roy, known for #90s webseries, brings in solid laughs with his natural comic timing. His scenes add extra fun to the movie. The rest of the supporting actors do justice to their roles and keep the story lively throughout.
Technicians:
The Great Pre Wedding Show looks decent with Suresh Bobbili’s music perfectly fitting the bill. The songs may not be super catchy, but they blend nicely with the narrative, helping the scenes flow smoothly. The background score adds good strength to key moments. Cinematographer Somasekhar keeps the visuals true to the indie film style without any commercial touches. The village setting is shown beautifully, giving a natural and grounded feel. The movie was made on a small budget, which is noticeable in a few places, but that doesn’t spoil the overall aura of the film. The storytelling and humor make up for it.
Director Rahul Srinivas has done a good job using the limited resources we have to say. Even with a simple story, he keeps the audience entertained with well-written comedy scenes. Strong performances from the cast added more to it. His direction feels fresh and in sync with the taste of today’s viewers, showing that he knows how to balance simplicity with fun.
Verdict: The Great Pre-Wedding Show.. Clean Comedy Show
Rating : 2.75/5
