The Kerala Story 2: Court Stays Release; Producer Refuses Screening
Opining that the film titled “The Kerala Story 2” has nothing to do with Kerala
By: Shanaz B Syed | 26 Feb 2026 4:03 PM ISTIn an expected twist of sorts, the makers of “The Kerala Story 2”, whose trailer has created a storm on the internet as it showcases Muslim youths marrying Hindu girls, forcefully converting them to their religion, and then making them do things like consuming beef and forced coupling, have faced a setback from the Kerala High Court.
Opining that the film titled “The Kerala Story 2” has nothing to do with Kerala, as the three female characters shown in the teaser are portrayed as happening from several North and Central states of India, the Court has stayed the film’s release until further notice. While the Central Board of Film Certification stated that they have nothing to do with the teaser/trailer of the film released on YouTube, as they didn’t certify it, the Court asked the CBFC to re-examine the movie.
Meanwhile, as the Court asked that they would watch the movie in a special screening and decided about it, the producer of the film, Vipul Shah, refused to screen the movie to the High Court Judges as no rule says so. Perhaps that’s the reason the Court has asked the CBFC to re-examine the movie, and most likely the title of the movie will be changed, it looks like.
