The Raja Saab IMAX Release Hits Road Block

Prabhas’ upcoming film The Raja Saab has faced an unexpected setback just weeks before its release. The team has confirmed that the film will not be available in the IMAX format. This happened because IMAX already has an exclusive four-week agreement with Avatar 3, officially titled Avatar: Fire and Ash. Due to this contract, all IMAX screens worldwide are committed to James Cameron’s film and cannot offer shows for any other movie during that period.

The update was shared by Prathyangira Cinemas, which handles overseas distribution for The Raja Saab. They explained that IMAX is unable to support the film because of the strict deal signed for Avatar 3. Since Avatar: Fire and Ash releases on December 19, 2025, and The Raja Saab arrives on January 9, 2026, both release dates fall inside the same four-week block.

The challenge does not end with IMAX screens. Other special formats like PLF and DBOX are also busy with Avatar 3 for the same duration. Even so, the distributors shared that they are working hard to arrange as many premium shows as they can, depending on theatre availability.

The Raja Saab is a romantic horror-comedy directed by Maruthi Dasari. The film stars Prabhas along with Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Sanjay Dutt. The movie is expected to show Prabhas in a fun and refreshing character, different from his usual action roles.

Interestingly, advance bookings for the film in the United States have already begun. This has led to discussions online because ticket prices for The Raja Saab in some locations appear to be higher than those of Avatar: Fire and Ash. Fans are curious to see how the film performs despite the limitations with premium screens.
