The Raja Saab Telangana Release Trouble: Who Really Went Wrong?
The Raja Saab is reportedly made with a massive budget of around Rs 550 crore and stars Prabhas, one of India’s biggest stars.
By: Priya Chowdhary Nuthalapti | 9 Jan 2026 8:45 AM ISTThe Telangana government often speaks proudly about Hyderabad and promotes it as a global city. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has even described Hyderabad as the cinema hub of the world, pointing to new film studios and rising investments. However, a recent incident involving the movie The Raja Saab has raised serious questions about how things work in reality.
Despite being released worldwide, The Raja Saab did not get released in Telangana on time. This was not due to technical issues or lack of theatres. The problem was purely administrative. The film’s producers were waiting for a Government Order (GO) to approve increased ticket prices. Unfortunately, the GO was not issued even by 10:30 p.m. on the release day. As a result, several shows were cancelled, leaving theatres, distributors, and audiences confused and disappointed.
This issue becomes more serious considering the scale of the film. The Raja Saab is reportedly made with a massive budget of around Rs 550 crore and stars Prabhas, one of India’s biggest stars. When a film of such importance faces delays due to indecision, it reflects poorly on governance and coordination.
The government’s role clearly comes under question. If the Telangana government had no plan to approve the ticket hike, it should have rejected the request early instead of keeping everyone waiting. On the other hand, if approval was possible, the GO should have been released on time—similar to how the Andhra Pradesh Government handled the matter.
At the same time, producers also share some responsibility. Assuming approvals without official confirmation led to confusion and false expectations among fans.
