The 5 Month Filming Challenge with Mani Ratnam

Director Mani Ratnam is set to reunite with legendary actor Kamal Haasan for their upcoming film, tentatively named KH 234. Despite a star-studded cast featuring Dulquer Salmaan, Trisha Krishnan, and Jayam Ravi, Mani Ratnam plans to complete the shooting within just 5 months.

Traditionally known for taking time in pre-production, Mani Ratnam is known to wrap up shooting quickly once on set. This project will follow a similar pattern, with the film's promo releasing on Kamal Haasan's birthday in December, and the shoot commencing with the rest of the cast and crew in January.

Kamal Haasan will join in January, and the shoot is expected to conclude by April 2024. This collaboration marks Jayam Ravi and Dulquer Salmaan's second project with Mani Ratnam, following their work on Ponniyin Selvan and OK Kanmani, respectively.

Additionally, it's their first time working with the iconic Kamal Haasan. The film is anticipated to be a thriller, and Mani Ratnam himself will write and direct it. AR Rahman, an Oscar Academy Award-winning musician, will be responsible for the music and original score.

The project will be jointly produced by Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam, G Mahendran, and Siva Ananth under Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies. It remains to be seen if Mani Ratnam can successfully execute his ambitious plan to complete the shooting within 5 months.
