The expectations are quite high on this film and let us see if Siddu & Co managed to reach them or not.

Story:

After getting cheated badly by a girl named Radhika, DJ Tillu (Siddu Jonnalagadda) starts a wedding events company named 'Tillu Events' and goes on in life. He meets a girl named Lilly (Anupama Parameswaran) at a party. They hit it off straight away and make love. Lilly disappears the next morning. Tillu searches for her a lot but she appears one day at a hospital and reveals that she is pregnant. Both families meet and decide to get them married. Tillu's birthday arrives and he goes to meet Lilly but faces one shock after another. He finds out that Lilly has other plans and is just using him. Who is Lilly? What is her mission? What does Tillu do now? Answers to all these questions form the rest of the story.

Analysis:

Prior to the release of a film named 'DJ Tillu', there was no sound about that film. But the trailer and the first song impressed the audience instantly. People found it interesting as well as entertaining. Siddu's typical dialogue delivery as Tillu impressed everyone and the youth became connected to some of the dialogues uttered by Tillu. The fun created by Siddu as Tillu in the movie was fantastic. We find such characters around us every day where they give buildup about themselves and entertain people a lot. They brag a lot but they cause no harm to others. Such a character has been brought to life by Siddu both as a writer as well as an actor. He got into the skin of the character and made people laugh non-stop. Thanks to social media, the character gained cult status over the next few months. Continuing that, he arrived with 'Tillu Square' and the Hungama he created with that character in the film is its biggest highlight. The story is quite ordinary just like the first part but the sharp one-liners and fast screenplay along with Anupama's glamour made it highly entertaining. On top of everything, there is Siddu's phenomenal performance as Tillu which makes the youth crazy works in favor of the movie. Though the fun gets a bit repetitive, it is not a huge problem.

When you are making a movie based on the character that the audience got used to, there are a lot of advantages to it. There are certain disadvantages to it as well. There is no need to introduce it or establish it as the audience already have a special connection to it. When the character drives the movie forward, there is no need to stress on the story too much. 'Tillu Square' team used it to their benefit. Carrying the same energy, the makers created a lot of fun with Tillu's character and his one-liners. The entertainment dose is quite high and the movie goes at a rapid pace. Siddu takes the driving seat and delivers one comic line after another. He provides a lot of comedy but it feels like we have already watched it before. The same comedy and Siddu's dialogues carrying the major burden makes you feel like things are getting a bit repetitive. We get an idea of the dialogues that are going to come out and reaction Siddu gives after a point. There is nothing new in terms of the story. We can predict that there is something wrong with the heroine as soon as she enters the frame for the first time. Therefore, hero getting shocked about being cheated and the fun around it does not excite you anymore. There are a lot of twists in the movie but none of them are unexpected and mind-boggling. There are quite convenient for the story.

But there are very few instances where 'Tillu Square' bores you. The strength of this film likes in the hero delivering one-liners on very common situations and conversations. There are many dialogues that makes you burst into laughter. The conversations between father and son and the trendy dialogues entertain you throughout. The smile doesn't go away from your face. The first half sails smoothly due to Siddu, Anupama and dialogues. The connection with 'DJ Tillu' during the interval increases the entertainment dose. Though the twist is not surprising regarding the heroine's character. The mafia angle too looks passable but Siddu keeps things moving quickly with his fun role. Neha Shetty as Radhika provides good fun and the climax looks ordinary once again. The short runtime is a huge plus for 'Tillu Square'. The ending given to Anupama's character is okay and the sequel definitely gives you timepass entertainment without a doubt. Though the fun is a bit repetitive, it works big time.

Performances:

Siddu Jonnalagadda once again brings a lot of craziness with his acting as Tillu. He did it with a lot of ease and the way he turned it into a cult character among the public should be applauded. His expressions and dialogue delivery work out big time. His look is also quite good and there will be complete entertainment for two hours and fifteen minutes if you connect with his character. Anupama Parameswaran's character did not meet the expectations. Her role was hyped up a lot in the promos but what we see in the film is not up to the mark. But she stuns everyone with her glamour and spices it up with romantic lip locks throughout. Neha Shetty makes an entry as Radhika and impresses again. Muralidharan as the hero's father provides a lot of entertainment. Murali Sharma as a mafia don and Anish Kuruvella as a police boss are ok. The rest of the characters are fine.

Technicians:

There is a lot of energy and vibe in the songs of 'Tillu Square'. The 'DJ Tillu' title song impresses once again with new lyrics while Ticketey Konakunda too draws whistles from the audience. The rest of the songs are equally good. Bheems Ceciroleo's background score is energetic as well. He brings a lot of josh by using the 'DJ Tillu' beats every now and then. The camera work is decent as the frames are extra colorful which suits the mood of the film. The production values are top-notch as expected. Siddu Jonnalagadda scores major marks through his writing once again. The movie achieved most of the success on paper itself. His screenplay which was written along with Ravi Antony is simple but gets connected. Siddu mark one-liners are a major highlight of this movie. Mallik Ram continued with the 'DJ Tillu' flavor and did a fine job.

Verdict: 'Tillu Square' – Makes A Lot of Sound Again!

Rating: 2.75/5
