Tollywood Report Card: How Did 2025 Start?

Telugu cinema is one of the most consistent film industries in Indian cinema when it comes to producing quality and also volume of films. The same can be understood again this year as we have had multiple films release at the box office in the opening half of 2025.

Now that the opening quarter of the year is pretty much done and dusted, let us have a look at the report on the performances of the films that have released till now.

This year started on a blockbuster note with Anil Ravipudi and Venkatesh Daggubati, bringing the audience to theatres in big numbers with Sankranthi Ki Vasthunnam This was carried fairly positively by Naga Chaitanya’s Thandel.

Coming to Nani’s latest film HIT 3, it is turning out to be a moderate winner. After a strong weekend, this film has slowed down in the second week, and it is finally settling at hit status, which could have otherwise been superhit.

Daku Maharaj had a great potential to have a pretty good run at the box office, but this was largely constrained due to the competition during the Sankranti season and lack of adequate theatre allocation.
