August Becoming A Nightmare Month For Tollywood!

Just like there are festive seasons where exceptional business happens in Tollywood, there are some months where nothing works out. The month of August falls into the second category. None of the films that are arriving in August are working out at the box office post-lockdown.

Going back to 2022, Puri Jagannadh and Vijay Deverakonda delivered a disaster in the form of 'Liger'. This pan-Indian movie was supposed to take Vijay's career to the next level but it brought him down. The buyers endured huge losses and people are yet to recover from this nightmare.

Coming to 2023, we had Megastar Chiranjeevi releasing his 'Bholaa Shankar'. His commercial drama directed by Meher Ramesh was a huge flop. It is a remake of 'Vedhalam' which came back in 2015. This film faced huge losses and Chiranjeevi's image took a severe beating and he was forced to change his approach completely. He is yet to release another movie post 'Bholaa Shankar'.

Even 'Gandeevadhari Arjuna' which arrived in August last year ended up as a failure. It was one of the lowest-earning films in Varun Tej's career. Now, August arrived with a lot of hope. But films like 'Mr Bachchan' and 'Double Ismart' which were supposed to please the masses ended up as disappointments.

Ravi Teja's image took a severe beating with 'Mr Bachchan' while many have come to a conclusion that Puri Jagannadh might not make a comeback after watching 'Double Ismart'. Let us hope that this trend changes from 2025 onwards.
