The last real deal at the box office is Sankranthiki Vasthunnam which released during the Sankranthi season.
Incidentally, Telugu dubbed version of Chhaava released yesterday and it opened on a reasonably strong note at the box office.
The film was reportedly able to grow ₹3 crore at the Tollywood box office yesterday, and this is a pretty impressive number for a dubbed film. The film was evidently able to pull the Telugu audience to theatres and substantial numbers as it reported one of the better openings for a dubbed film in the Telugu states.
A portion of the Telugu audience had already watched the Hindi version in Multiplex and now the other sections are getting to watch the dubbed version in theatres. The start is a fairly strong one.
However, other films, including Mazaka which released last weekend have gone absolutely nowhere at the box office.
What’s coming next weekend isn’t overtly promising either. We have Court and Dilruba arriving next weekend and both of them will have to generate super positive word of mouth if they’re to delivering a winning performance at the ticket counters.
For now, we are having an unexpected yet pleasant winner in the form of Chaava this weekend and it has to be seen what next weekend holds for the Telugu folk.
