Opinion: Interesting August, Will it Bear Fruits?
While June depends heavily on Peddi, August is slowly shaping up into one of the most crowded months for Tollywood this year.
By: Shanaz B Syed | 27 May 2026 4:23 PM ISTTollywood box office is desperately waiting for one solid blockbuster right now. After a disappointing summer filled with weak theatrical footfalls and underperforming releases, the industry is now pinning huge hopes on Ram Charan’s Peddi. As the film hits cinemas on June 4th, Tollywood is expecting that it will bring life back into theatres again. However, it’s not just June, Tollywood has interesting good cinemas coming up in August too, so let’s have a look at it.
While June depends heavily on Peddi, August is slowly shaping up into one of the most crowded months for Tollywood this year. Nani’s The Paradise is already locked for August 21st, and the film’s buzz is growing rapidly after the viral “Aya Sher” song. Industry circles are already discussing the possibility of it becoming Nani’s first ₹100 crore opener if the current momentum continues.
Then comes Sharwanand’s Bhogi, which is gearing up for a massive release on August 28th. Sharwa has been trying hard for a strong commercial comeback, and the film is carrying decent expectations already. Interestingly, the real surprise package of August could turn out to be Ravi Teja’s Irumudi. The film is reportedly being planned for an August release and is carrying very positive internal buzz.
At the same time, there are also ongoing speculations about Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara is also eyeing an August slot if things get cleared. But as of now, there is still no official clarity regarding its release plans, as the VFX work of the film is yet to get wrapped.
One thing is becoming very clear however. After months of dullness and empty weekends, Tollywood’s release calendar is finally beginning to look exciting again. Hope Peddi gives the right start in June for these August bangers.
