Telugu cinema has been struggling to deliver consistently in the recent past as not every film releasing at the ticket counters is striking a chord with the audience.
By: Tupaki Desk | 28 March 2026 11:52 PM ISTTelugu cinema has been struggling to deliver consistently in the recent past as not every film releasing at the ticket counters is striking a chord with the audience. A similar scenario is repeating again this week as Telugu cinema is replacing a dry run.
The Telugu film industry is facing yet another slow weekend at the box office, with most recent releases struggling to attract audiences. Films that opened with some buzz, like Band Melam, are witnessing sharp drops in shows and occupancy.
Even bigger releases such as Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh, which had a promising start, are losing momentum and fading fast from theatres. Smaller films, including Suyodhana starring Priyadarshi, are also failing to make an impact, signaling a continuing dry spell for Tollywood.
The only bright spot remains a few strong performers like Dhurandhar 2, which are managing to pull audiences despite the overall weak slate. Industry insiders note that after the Sankranti festival, there has been a shortage of clear hits, and the current lineup has done little to revive box office enthusiasm.
While some hoped films like Bimbisara and Sita Ramam would end this slump, their collections have yet to generate sustained momentum. Nonetheless, certain films such as Ustaad Bhagat Singh have managed respectable overall runs and global totals before showing signs of slowing down.
With audience turnout remaining muted, Tollywood now looks forward to stronger releases in the coming weeks to bring energy back to theatres and revive box office fortunes.
