Box Office: Four Telugu Films Fighting Out For Christmas Weekend

Capitalising on the long weekends is a known box office formula, as that will give an uncanny advantage to every film that is hitting the theatres. That will actually help the films achieve decent footfalls, irrespective of word of mouth, as many film lovers love stepping into theatres during holiday times. One such is the upcoming Christmas weekend in Telugu states.

This time, four small to mid-range projects are trying to grab the attention of the Telugu audience, and they are none other than Shambhala, Champion, Dhandora and Eesha. Releasing on December 25th, we have Shambhala and Champion placed in the first slot, as the makers of these films are also promoting them aggressively to cash on the lucrative festive window.

Shambala has VFX-backed horror and fantasy elements, featuring Aadi Saikumar in the lead, while Champion, bankrolled by Ashwini Dutt, is a vintage Telangana-based action-drama that has Roshan Mekha as the lead. Both are in genres that worked out well recently. However, at least one chartbuster song from these movies would have gotten them more attention.

On the other hand, Dhandoraa, featuring Shivaji in a prominent role, caught attention with the trailer, which deals with the subject of death and caste politics. Similarly, Hebah Patel’s Eesha, which has the backing of Bunny Vas, is also getting attention after the makers started to promote that this film is not for the weak-hearted.

At the Box office, currently, there are only films like Dhurandhar, which was already watched by a majority, and Avatar 3, as well as Akhanda 2, have received only lukewarm responses. That gives all the edge for Shambhala, Champion, Dhandora, and Eesha to showcase their mettle.
