For the last few weeks, there was a serious discussion between Telangana exhibitors and producers regarding the percentage and rental systems in theatres. Because of this issue, many people in the industry were worried about the release of upcoming films, especially Peddi.
The exhibitors earlier demanded that Peddi should be released only under the percentage system. This created tension between producers and theatre owners. Several meetings were held between producers, exhibitors, and Film Chamber members, but no clear solution was found.
Finally, Chiranjeevi stepped in and held discussions with the Telangana Exhibitors Association. During the meeting, exhibitors explained their problems and shared their opinions on theatre business and revenue sharing. After listening to both sides, Chiranjeevi reportedly suggested that everyone should follow the recommendations given by the Film Chamber special committee.
After these discussions, the exhibitors agreed to screen Peddi under the rental system itself. This decision has brought relief to producers and fans who were worried about the film’s release. At the same time, exhibitors also made another important proposal. They said that if ticket prices are increased, then along with the rental amount, exhibitors should also receive a 7.5 percent share.
Sources say that films releasing after June 30 may follow the percentage system. Industry members believe this could become a long-term solution for theatre business in Telangana. However, for now, the immediate focus is on ensuring the smooth release of Peddi without any problems.
