By: Shanaz B Syed | 11 March 2026 12:24 PM ISTNo matter whether that is a lightman, set boy, Spot boy, Artist, Assistant, Assistant director, or a top artist, Director, or producer, most of the film production crew often head to sets early in the morning for one reason.
Because every shooting spot has this breakfast set up that consists of a large menu catering to their canary glands. The menu consists of Idlis, Set Dosa, Uthappam, Mysore Bonda, Pesarattu with Uma, Sambar soaked Idly and Vada, and other dishes. Most of the crew eats 3 to 4 types of variety foods at 7:30 or 8 AM on the Telugu film set. Hardly any cast and crew misses breakfast on the sets.
Now that the Middle East war has resulted in a gas shortage, it is being heard that even the food production suppliers are planning to cut down different breakfast types as they can't afford to buy LPG cylinders in black market right now.
Already, Hyderabad hotels are stopping to serve idlis and dosas, due to cylinder shortage, and that has already taken its toll on foodies. Now, the film industry is also getting affected by their favourite breakfasts.
However, if people switch from LPG cylinders to firewood and induction stoves, surely all the dishes could be served without any pause, but the taste slightly alters.
