By: Priya Chowdhary Nuthalapti | 23 Nov 2025 12:45 PM ISTMovie piracy has become a serious problem for the Telugu film industry. Even though the police have blocked many illegal websites like iBOMMA and Bappam TV, platforms such as MovieRulz continue to operate without fear. These websites are not only harming filmmakers but also causing huge losses to producers, distributors and theatre owners.
MovieRulz has been openly challenging the police by changing its web links and server locations again and again. Even after strict warnings and cyber patrols, the site keeps appearing with new domain names. Recently released movies were uploaded on MovieRulz within hours of their theatrical release. In some cases, films that were released on Friday appeared on the site before the first day was even over.
Most of these movies are recorded secretly inside theatres using hidden cameras. These low-quality recordings are then uploaded online and shared freely. This illegal act affects the box office collections and discourages people from visiting cinemas. The piracy mafia has now become a big headache for Tollywood, as every new film release is at risk.
Even though the police have intensified their investigation into iBOMMA Ravi and his network, MovieRulz is still operating confidently. The site continues to threaten the film industry by uploading pirated versions of newly released movies and web series. Experts say this shows how advanced and organised the piracy networks have become.
In recent developments, Hyderabad police arrested Immadi Ravi, who was allegedly running piracy platforms like iBOMMA and Bappam TV. He reportedly earned crores of rupees by promoting illegal content and betting app advertisements. Authorities seized several bank accounts and revealed that he was living a lavish lifestyle funded by piracy income.
Police also warned that MovieRulz and similar platforms not only promote illegal content but can also put users at risk. These websites often contain harmful malware, fake ads, and dangerous links that can steal personal data or money. Visitors may unknowingly fall into cyber fraud traps.
